The EZclassic Whelping Box is designed with the breeder in mind and the safety of the mom and pups. The plastic design is very durable: strong, stable, and impact resistant. It's lightweight makes it easier to store and transport when not in use. No tools will be needed during set up or take down of the EZclassic Whelping Box making it one of the easiest designs to work with. The plastic is non-leaching so it will not absorb contaminants that come in to contact, meaning the plastic is resistant to bacteria growth! We want the whelping area to be safe and clean. 

Why the wavy design and not just flat surface panels? This is a great question and something we put a lot of thought into. We look at a whelping box as an investment and want it to last throughout the years of use it will receive. That means strength and durability are highly important. When we tested the smooth surface panels, we found that the durabiliy and strength were very susceptible to cracking and breaking. We had two options to improve durability and strength: triple the thickness of the plastic and thus tripling the weight and cost; or, add a wavy design to greatly increase the strength and durability maintaining a light weight. But what about cleaning it? That is a question we had to. So we tested it out. The panels will still wipe clean. Some areas needed a little more time but it was minimal. Making a whelping box investment last was worth a couple extra minutes. And we are able to keep the costs down. 

The EZclassic also comes with a rail assembly, also known as pig rails or safety shelf. This is essential for a whelping box. The rail creates an open gap underneath the rail that puppies can be safe under. When mom comes in the box to nurse and lays down along the side, the rails help prevent mom from laying on the pups causing them injury or suffocation. Each rail assembly comes with the 4 corner pieces that each have an adjustable height leg to 3 different levels. Great to adjusting to your breed. 

Does the EZclassic Box have a hard floor? The EZclassic Whelping Boxes do not have a hard floor; however, they have a two part flooring system that is included with each box. First, the heavy duty black liner serves multiple purposes as it goes under the entire box and up the outside of the box a few inches: It will protect your floors by preventing the box from being shifted around my puppies on the inside; protect your floors from moisture as the liner is treated with a moisture resistant barrier; make the whelping box easier to clean by having a removeable floor (you don't have to take the box apart or outside to clean!). The second layer is the EZwhelp whelping pad that goes on top of the liner. These are great for absorbing liquids quickly to help prevent the spread of messes. We do recommend the purchase of extra pads to make clean up even easier. By have at least one extra pad, you can have one washing while one is in use. We recommend layering multiple cleaning pads on top of each other so that when the top pad is soiled, simply pull it out and the next one is ready to go. Changing out pads regularly will also help prevent messes from spreading to the walls/panels of the box. Things get messy though. The wall panels will wipe clean easily.
